WE ARE LOOKING FOR An Assistant Baker

Position Description:

Under the direction of the Head Baker, responsible for:

• Production, display, and delivery of multiple bakery products.

• Preparation of basic recipes provided to you according to baker’s instructions and preferences.

• Weighing, sifting, measuring, and mixing baking ingredients.

• Preparing and baking bread, rolls, cookies, pies, cakes, cobblers, crusts, and other baked items.

• Preparing, cooking, and canning jams, jellies, and pickles, according to baker’s instructions and available produce.

• Accurately and appropriately utilizing the various bakery equipment including cleanup.

• Inspection and documentation of available and needed ingredients.

Must adhere to all food handling and sanitation guidelines, follow established timelines for food production as required by delivery times and production schedule and be able to explain to customers different baking techniques and demonstrate an understanding of baking chemistry.

Working hours vary but include weekends, and occasionally nights.

 Qualifications 

• Ability to perform effectively under fluctuating conditions and workload amount

• Proper knowledge of kitchen utensils including knife skills and familiarity with mixers and food processors

• Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to fifty pounds, safely

• Knowledge of food handling and sanitation guidelines

• Current Food Handlers Card or ability to acquire one

• Demonstrated knowledge in food preparation including frosting, shaping, or mixing various bakery items

Start Date: 05/01/2024, Full-Time Seasonal

Salary: ~$15 an hour, based upon experience
